Sax Atomix To Play At Dinnertime Saturday At Beef & Leaf

The SaxAtomix will be performing Saturday, June 21, during dinnertime on the patio of the Beef & Leaf Cafe at 3801 Arkansas Ave. The program will feature a mix of music, including big band classics, Latin favorites, jazz standards, ballads, and more. ‘Sandroing: Tracing Kastom In Vanuatu’ Opens At Museum Of International Folk Art Sunday June 29

More than an intricate and ephemeral artform, sand drawing in Vanuatu is a storytelling tradition, conveying folklore, history, genealogy, rituals and other forms of kastom (local, traditional knowledge).

Sand drawing is a UNESCO-designated Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The Museum of International Folk Art exhibition features works created by Edgar Hinge, a sand drawing practitioner and museum educator from Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Help Restore Horno At Jemez Historic Site June 22

Jemez Historic Site will lead a hands-on horno, or outdoor adobe oven, restoration workshop, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 22, to get the horno ready for the summer program season.

The community is invited to join Javier Guzman and the rangers at Jemez Historic Site to restore the horno. Visitors can join in and get their hands dirty while learning why hornos are so important in New Mexico and to this site. 

Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing they don’t mind getting dirty. Bring water and sunscreen as well.
