Help Restore Horno At Jemez Historic Site June 22

Jemez Historic Site will lead a hands-on horno, or outdoor adobe oven, restoration workshop, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 22, to get the horno ready for the summer program season.

The community is invited to join Javier Guzman and the rangers at Jemez Historic Site to restore the horno. Visitors can join in and get their hands dirty while learning why hornos are so important in New Mexico and to this site. 

Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing they don’t mind getting dirty. Bring water and sunscreen as well.

Cultural Properties Restoration Fund Awards Nearly $1.2 Million To Eight New Mexico Projects

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Historic Preservation Division has announced that eight New Mexico projects – ranging from Taos to Hillsboro to Portales – have received nearly $1.2 million to fund historic restoration work through the Cultural Properties Restoration Fund.
