You know … it’s usual for us to want to be remembered when we are gone—to have left some sort of admirable legacy. Water crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will be repairing a slow water leak on 34th Street on Monday. The work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and should last no later than 4 p.m. Monday.
The leak is in the middle of the road on 34th near Urban St. The area will be closed to through traffic while the repair is being made. Drivers should exercise caution near the work zone and avoid the area if possible.
DPU’s crews don’t anticipate any loss of water service for residents on 34th Street, although a drop in water pressure is possible.

CHAVES COUNTY — At around 2:30 p.m. Feb. 27, 2024, New Mexico State Police (NMSP) was called to investigate a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles on U.S. Highway 285 and the intersection of East Orchard Park Road south of Roswell.
The initial investigation indicated that a Ford pickup truck, driven by a 46-year-old male, was trying to cross 285 from East Orchard Park Road. A 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old male struck the Ford pickup truck as it crossed 285, causing both vehicles to become disabled in the northbound lanes.
