An exploration of the dawn of world cuisine as we know and consume it today is set to open Dec. 9 at the Museum of International Folk Art with New World Cuisine: The Histories of Chocolate, Mate Y Más.

New World Cuisine explores how foods around the world developed from mixing the old and the new, and how many of the tastiest dishes and desserts came to be associated with New Mexico.

‘Education is Hope’ Screened in Los Alamos

On Saturday night, the Reel Deal Theater presented a free screening of the grassroots film Education is Hope. The film was produced locally and filmed in Kenya by Will O’Donnell  and Dylan Westfall. The documentary film highlights the efforts of the International Peace Initiatives (IPI) to provide opportunities for children to attend school. Holger Waschinski of Pac8 edited the movie.

This is a very powerful dish with a lot of smoky taste, but it is still low calorie dish. It can be eaten warm or at room temperature. I use a charcoal grill and smoking chips that have been soaked in water for about ½ hour.
