SANTA FE — The Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus 2021‒2022 season continues with a celebratory program to ring in the new year featuring works by Mozart, Haydn, Glinka & Fung.

The first concert is 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 at The Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe.

The Symphony partnered with a consortium of seven orchestras and universities across the U.S. in 2019 to co-commission the JUNO Award-winning composer Vivian Fung and her Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra. Read More

Los Alamos Concert Association (LACA) presents Scotland’s award-winning Maxwell Quartet performing 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 in the Duane Smith Auditorium in Los Alamos.

The string quartet will perform works by Haydn, Prokofiev, and Dvořák plus a set of their signature Scottish folk tunes.

NEW YORK — Earlier this month, the Metropolitan Opera premiered a new installment in its series of abridged, English-language opera adaptations for family audiences: Massenet’s Cinderella.

Baritone Zachary Nelson Steps In For Darren Drone For ‘A Night At The Opera’ Performance Christmas Eve!

SANTA FE —The Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and Santa Fe Opera announced late Monday evening that baritone Zachary Nelson would step in for Darren Drone, who is unable to perform in the Christmas Eve performance of “A Night at the Opera” this week at The Lensic.

Nelson, who resides in Santa  Fe, is a former Santa Fe Opera Apprentice and frequently appears with the Opera, including its 2019 production of La bohème and 2017 production of Lucia di Lammermoor. Water Coil Bursts At National Hispanic Cultural Center

NHCC News:

ALBUQUERQUE – Early this morning at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) at 1701 4th St., a water coil in the HVAC unit on the roof of the Visual Arts building burst, causing water to leak into the floors below.

New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs facilities staff was on site soon after the break was discovered, waterlines were turned off to limit the spread of water and emergency remediation has begun.

The Visual Arts building and the NHCC Art Museum will be closed to the public until further notice.

Deciding when to reboot “Live in Los Alamos” concerts has been a worrisome experience for organizer Jonathan Lathrop, Ted Galvez and those who help program the music series that has existed since 2015.
