LAPD Files Petty Misdemeanor Charges Against Sheriff, Coaches

Having concluded its investigation into alleged drinking at a team bonding event at Los Alamos High School (LAHS) in August, the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) filed petty misdemeanor charges Thursday against the Los Alamos County Sheriff and three LAHS volleyball coaches.

GALLUP — New Mexico State Police (NMSP) officers in Gallup conducted an operation Nov. 3 at the Wal-Mart aimed at preventing retail crime and holding those who are engaged in shoplifting and other retail crimes accountable.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced today that Christopher Kee was sentenced to 105 months in prison.

A federal jury convicted Kee, 49, of Shiprock, and an enrolled member of Navajo Nation, June 17, 2022, of assault with a dangerous weapon.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced today that Ryntana Yazzie pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Yazzie, 34, of Crownpoint, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, was placed on conditions of release pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) coordinated a Gun Buyback event Saturday, Nov. 4 in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Española.

People anonymously handed in unwanted firearms and received Visa gift cards in return. Buybacks were intended to prevent unwanted or unneeded weapons from causing harm or being used to commit acts of violence.
