Joshua J. Montoya Charged With LANL Copper Theft Slated For Arraignment In District Court Wednesday

Joshua J. Montoya of Velarde is slated for arraignment Wednesday in the First Judicial District Court in Santa Fe for allegedly stealing large amounts of copper from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) last year.

A criminal complaint filed July 14, 2016 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court by Los Alamos Police Cpl. We can all agree, crime seems to be everywhere, and seems to be getting worse. This week, the Albuquerque Police Department announced they would be directing officers to issue citations rather than make arrests on low-level crimes to comply with a settlement agreement on a class-action lawsuit. Many people are asking now, why would a city do this in a time where crime seems to be rising? 

This lawsuit, McClendon v. City of Albuquerque, was filed on behalf of prisoners in the Bernalillo County Detention Center in 1995, and focuses on overcrowding and other issues in the county

EPD Captures Top 10 DWI Fugitive Pablo Salazar

SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Transportation has announced that one of the state’s top 10 DWI fugitives, Pablo Salazar, was recently captured by the Espanola Police Department.

He is back behind bars on a probation violation. Salazar has been on the run since September 2016. This was the third time he fled supervision.

Casper Cly, a 26-year-old Los Alamos resident and former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee is scheduled for sentencing May 23 in the 11th Judicial District Court in Farmington. Cly was originally charged in Aztec Magistrate Court with four counts of child solicitation by electronic device and was bound over in April 2016 to the District Court.

Cly’s arrest was one of more than 20 arrests nationwide during a two-month-long law enforcement sweep by Internet Crimes Against Children task forces across the country in 2016. San Read More

SANTA FE  Around 3 p.m., May 13, the New Mexico State Police responded to a pedestrian fatality involving the New Mexico Rail Runner Express train. The incident occurred on the tracks nearest Interstate 25 at mile marker 275 in Santa Fe County.
 
Witness statements made to officers and the investigation at the scene indicate that James D. Chavarria, 21, of Santa Fe exited his vehicle, which was parked on the northbound interstate shoulder and crossed the roadway entering the median area occupied by train tracks.
