NMDOT: Statewide Click It Or Ticket Mobilization

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE – Friday, the New Mexico Department of Transportation announced that law enforcement across the state is participating in the national Click It or Ticket mobilization through June 4. The mobilization focuses on seat belt enforcement.

“Everyone who gets into a car needs to put on their seatbelt. It could save your life,” NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Tom Church said. “I am proud to support law enforcement’s efforts to keep our streets and highways safe.”

State Police To Conduct Sobriety Checks In June

New Mexico State Police are conducting Sobriety Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols and Registration, Insurance and Drivers’ License Checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of June.

There has been a long-standing debate about the role of the Sheriff in Los Alamos. The present Sheriff, Marco Lucero, was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, stressing the importance of the Sheriff’s role in Los Alamos. County Councils, not including myself, have worked to minimize that role, drastically cutting his budget and ultimately calling an election last November to eliminate the office. LAPD Seeks Information On Dog Attack

LAPD News:

Los Alamos Police Department Animal Control is trying to find the owner of two dogs involved in an attack on a third dog on the Canyon Rim Trail at approximately 8 a.m. May 22, according to Deputy Chief Jason Wardlow Herrera.

Wardlow Herrera said two black Labrador retriever-type dogs were walking off-leash with their owner. He said one of the dogs appeared to be a black mixed breed Labrador with white on its chest. The other dog appeared to be “more lab” and was black in color.

Judge Sentences Casper Cly To Four Years In Prison

Casper Cly, a 26-year-old Los Alamos resident and former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday by 11th Judicial District Judge Karen Townsend in Farmington.

Under a plea agreement reached in March, Cly had agreed to plead guilty to one count of child solicitation by electronic communication device, a third degree felony and one count of child solicitation (13-16), a fourth degree felony.

Governor To Commemorate New Mexico Law Enforcement Officers Killed In The Line Of Duty

SANTA FE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez will commemorate New Mexico law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2016 as their names are added to the Department of Public Safety’s Law Enforcement Memorial.

The officers being added to the Memorial today are Hatch Police Officer Jose Chavez, Alamogordo Police Officer Clint Corvinus and Valencia County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Thomas.
