SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program has announced the 2024-2025 grant cycle awards totaling $162,700.

OHV Education and Trail Safety Grants

  • $20,000 to Region II Emergency Medical Services, Inc., to distribute newly developed public-safety media campaigns that will help reduce preventable pediatric traumatic brain injuries among young OHV operators in Doña Ana, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna and Sierra counties.
  • $14,000 to the Red Rock Motorsports Club, Inc. of Gallup to upgrade OHV park facilities and maintenance and erosion-mitigation

FBI Dedicates Investigative Resources To Address Violent Crime In Indian Country – Operation Not Forgotten 2024

FBI News:

In its second year, Operation Not Forgotten, a joint operation between the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Office of Justice Services (BIA) surged more than 50 personnel to assist with unresolved investigations in Indian country.

From June to September 2024, dedicated resources included FBI special agents and intelligence personnel who deployed to support 10 FBI field offices whose regions include Tribal communities that too often are impacted by a crisis of violence.

LAPD Clarifies Unreasonable Animal Noise Complaints

LAPD News:

On June 11, 2024, the Los Alamos County Council adopted updates to Chapter 6 of the County’s Ordinances, which include revisions to Section 6-6, unreasonable animal noise. Persistent barking from dogs falls under this section.

Alongside these changes, the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) updated its internal policy to better clarify procedures in response to these noise complaints.

During a presentation to Los Alamos County Council Sept. 24, NNSA Los Alamos Field Office (NA-LA) Manager Ted Wyka reported that in 2025, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is projected to hired 1,400 people.
