Bjorklund Best Predictor In First Pace Race Of Season

Lynn Bjorklund was the best predictor in the first race of the 51st season of the Atomic City Road Runners pace race series held on the Canyon Rim Trail. She was 13 seconds off her predicted time as well as the top female finisher in the 3 mile distance with a time of 25:13. New Mexico’s snowpack remains below normal. The measure of snow water equivalent, which is the amount of water you will have once the snow is melted, is below 30-percent of normal in the Upper Rio Grande, Jemez River and Pecos River basins. The Chama River Basin is now 40-percent of normal.

The upper tributaries of the Jemez River are becoming accessible, as very little snowpack remains.

Part Of Abiquiu Lake Recreation Area To Close For Season

USACE News:

ABIQUIU — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Albuquerque District has announced that beginning April 1, 2025, the Swim Beach Section of the Cerrito Recreation Area at Abiquiu Lake will be closed for the season.

This closure will remain in effect until the recreation season ends on Oct.15, 2025. 

The closure includes the Swim Beach, Paddle Craft Launch Area and Group Shelters 4 and 5. 

Visitors will be permitted to park at the top of the hill in the Corral to the right before the gate and walk down into the Recreation Area.

All Santa Fe National Forest Offices To Close For Training

SANTA FE — All Santa Fe National Forest offices, including the Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe will be closed Wednesday, April 2 for employee training.

Regular business hours will resume Thursday, April 3.

Alcove House Temporarily Closed Starting March 31, 2025 At Bandelier For Flood Debris Removal

NPS News:

Bandelier National Monument’s Alcove House will be temporarily closed starting Monday, March 31, 2025.

The park is beginning flood debris removal in that area, and work is expected to last up to five weeks.

Portions of the Cottonwood Overflow Parking Lot will also be closed during this time. It is recommended that visitors arrive to Bandelier before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m. to avoid parking lot congestion.
