The Glorieta Camps Prescribed Fire Project is a collaborative prescribed fire project between Glorieta Camps, Santa Fe National Forest, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), New Mexico State Forestry, and the Forest Stewards Guild.

Starting in 2021 Glorieta Camps reached out to The Forest Stewards Guild to provide prescribed fire support. Working together they completed several pile burns over three winters covering 180 acres. Orchard and Grounds: An orchard grows next to the main building a Greycliff Mill in Greycliff, Mont. As the orchard matures fruit harvested will be used in products made at the facility. The grounds are well maintained giving visitors a pleasant area to walk while taking a break from their travels. The main building on site, seen on the left, is where visitors can order a snack of baked goods and coffee bar or enjoy a lunch made with freshly grown or made ingredients including the breads. JEMEZ SPRINGS — Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) is seeking public input on resuming the collection of park entrance fees. The public comment period runs through Aug. 17, 2024.

 Santa Fe National Forest Responds To Small Fire And Chemical Spill Along Hyde Park Road

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – On Wednesday July 17, Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) was notified by Ski Santa Fe that a delivery truck carrying Hydrogen Peroxide caught fire in their parking lot.

SFNF fire resources and City of Santa Fe Fire Department responded immediately, containing both the spill and fire.

The truck company dispatched a Hazmat (hazardous materials) team, and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) was notified.

The public may see work being done in the area as the soil is excavated to be sampled and analyzed for hazardous materials.

SFNF Implements Closure Order In Jemez Ranger District

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) has issued a temporary area and road closure order (03-10-03-24-10) for the La Cueva picnic site in the Jemez Ranger District to protect the public’s health and safety during construction activities.

While the closure order is in place crews will conduct a pavement preservation project funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).

This order shall is in effect through 12 a.m. Aug. 4, unless rescinded.

‘All Individuals First’ 10th Anniversary Fundraiser Aug. 1

COMMUNITY News:

All Individuals First is hosting a 10th Anniversary celebration at 6 p.m., Aug. 1 in the Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church’s Kelly Hall.

The celebration, which also is a fundraiser for the organization, will feature a dinner, silent auction, games and a raffle. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at allindividualsfirst.org or at the door.
