Topper Girls Basketball Falls To Hope Christian Huskies

GG Romero goes in for a layup in a game played Wednesday afternoon against the Hope Christian Huskies in the 2023 Lady Horsemen Basketball Tournament. The game was played in the Perez-Shelley Gymnasium on the St Michael’s High School campus. Romero was the Topper’s high scorer for the game. The Toppers stayed with the Huskies during the first half of play but fell behind in the second and the powerful Huskies team outscored the Toppers to secure the win 42-63. Durango, Colo. — Hesperus Ski Area, a beloved winter destination for locals, regrets to announce the closure of Hesperus for the 2023/2024 ski season due to a mechanical failure of the Bighorn Chairlift gearbox.

Los Alamos High School Swim And Dive Teams Impress With Strong Showings At Cleveland Invitational

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Swim and Dive Teams continued their early season success with a strong showing at the Cleveland Invitational Dec. 8-9.

Takeshi Shiina, Zane Pederson, Willam Borovina, Jace Kerstiens and Neil Barber led the boys to first place thanks to these strong performances:

  • Shiina: First place in the 100 Back with a State qualifying time; and forth place in the 100 Butterfly;
  • Pederson: Second place in the 200 Freestyle with a State qualifying time, and third in the 50 Freestyle;

There have been many reports by anglers of dead trout in the quality water of the San Juan River below Navajo Dam. Most of the trout have been bigger-than-average in size.

The San Juan is quite possibly the best-known fishing location in the state. It attracts anglers from across the country. If there are problems developing on the San Juan they need to be addressed. Streamflows here have been well-below normal all year. The water has recently been heavily-stocked with fingerling rainbow trout.
