It was a long, occasionally very wet day at the State Track & Field Championship Saturday with four lightning delays of 45 minutes each, and the final three events of the day were postponed until day two.

LAHS Athletics Department Hosts Bigger, Faster, Stronger Strength And Conditioning Clinic May 19

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School Athletics Department is hosting a Bigger, Faster, Stronger strength and conditioning clinic 3-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 19.

All athletes entering grades 7-12 are welcome to attend. The community is invited to attend the portion taking place at 7-9 p.m. in Griffith Gymnasium.

This is a team building, bonding, goal setting and motivational time in which parents and community members will get the opportunity to witness the goals the individual teams set and help to hold them accountable for those goals. Read More

LAHS News:

Although the weather was frightful, it was a very good day for the Los Alamos High School Boys and Girls Track & Field athletes at the 2-5A District Championship Friday and Saturday at Bernalillo High School. 

LAHS qualified many more athletes for the remaining relays at the upcoming State Championship Friday and Saturday at the UNM Track in Albuquerque.

Duane And Jackie Marr Best Predictors In Pace Race

Duane and Jackie Marr were the best predictors in the 1-mile race, being 0.3 and 4 seconds off their predictions.
 
In the 2.8-mile race, Ted Romero was 8 seconds off and Roxana Candia was 10 seconds off. Tuesday’s pace race was held on paved roads in Pajarito Acres between rain showers and started on Acoma Lane.
 
Other good predictors for the 1-mile course (and the times that they were off their prediction) were Anders and Zachary Medin (both 9 s).
 
The fastest runners for 1 mile were Eddie Gartz (9:15) and Norah Gartz (9:16).

Team Los Alamos 4H Club Competes At State Shoot

Team Los Alamos 4H Club competed in the shotgun competition May 1-2 at the 4H State Shoot at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton. This year was the first that Los Alamos sent competitors to the event in more than a decade. Teammates Chris Bond, Kes Luchini and Joanna O’Neill  received 5th place ribbons despite heavy rain and windy conditions.
