LAHS XC Teams Shine At Rio Rancho Jamboree

Saturday was a great day for the Los Alamos High School Cross Country team at the Rio Rancho Jamboree. The boys finished 2nd overall and the Girls 3rd overall in the Championship Varsity races. More importantly, both teams were the fastest 5A teams against all the competition they’ll see on the same course at the State Championship in three weeks. Los Alamos Ski Racing Club Holds Ski Swap Oct. 18

Fall is approaching and the time to get ready for the upcoming ski season is upon us. The annual Los Alamos Ski Swap, hosted by the Los Alamos Ski Racing Club is Saturday, Oct. 18.

The ski swap is a decades-long tradition of Los Alamos. It’s unclear exactly what year the first swap was held, but many an “experienced” skier will tell you it’s been going on for at least 30 years. 

The swap is free to the public, and is the primary fundraiser for LASRC, a 501c3 non-profit corporation that operates locally on Pajarito Mountain. Read More

Chamber Hosts Annual Fundraiser Golf Tournament Friday

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is holding the annual Chamber Golf Tournament Benefitting United Way of Northern New Mexico Friday, Oct.10 at the Los Alamos County Golf Course.

Registration for the tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. while breakfast burritos are served. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and is followed by lunch, awards, door prizes and a silent auction at 12:30 p.m. Golfers are invited to sign up to play in the tournament as individuals or as foursomes. Hilltoppers Raise Funds For Wounded Warrior Project At Friday’s Game

The Hilltopper Football Team will go the extra mile Friday to raise funds for its annual Wounded Warriors Project.

Los Alamos High School alumni Cory Geyer enjoys a challenge and is finding one, as he attends the US Coast Guard Academy. He said he is thrilled to see his Toppers carry on the tradition of the Wounded Warrior fundraiser.

“I don’t think there is a more worthy cause out there,” Geyer said. “Those men and women put their bodies and lives on the line without hesitation not only to protect the freedoms we all enjoy but to represent the principles we stand for.” Read More

The Los Alamos Middle School Cross Country teams ran great races Saturday at the Santa Fe Indian School Invitational at the Pueblo of Santo Domingo.

The 8th grade girls, 8th grade boys and 7th grade boys teams each won their race and the 7th grade girls had a strong 2nd place finish.  Additionally, 8th graders Paulina Burnside and Jevon Montoya were individual winners in their races.
