Toppers Baseball Team Tops Santa Fe Demons

The Los Alamos High School Topper Baseball Team played a double header Thursday afternoon at Bomber Field on North Mesa against the Santa Fe Demons. The Toppers won both ends of the double header winning the first game 21-11 in five innings and 7-6 in the second game. In the first game the Topper bats ruled, and the Santa Fe Demons struggled at the plate. In the second game the play evened out with the Toppers winning 7-6 in regular time. Los Alamos High School Dual Athlete Melaki Gutierrez To Play Football And Track For UNM Lobos Beginning This Fall

Los Alamos High School senior Melaki Gutierrez is signing to play football and run track for the University of New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque.

The dual athlete will graduate in May and begin his football and track career this fall at UNM.

Toppers Varsity Tennis Teams Battle Rio Rancho & Weather

The Hilltoppers Varsity Tennis teams took on Rio Rancho High School Tuesday, March 19 at home when weather played spoilsport. With less than half the scheduled matches completed, rain and hail forced the teams off the courts. The Rio Rancho Rams were able to return Thursday, March 21 to play out the rest of the matches. Mike Lippiatt Briefs Kiwanis On Golf Course Construction

At the March 12 meeting of the Kiwanis Club, Los Alamos Golf Course Manager Mike Lippiatt gave a presentation outlining the construction work in progress at the golf course.

The golf course was built and opened in 1947 and, other than an irrigation upgrade, the current renovation project is the “first facelift the course has had in 75 years,” Lippiatt said. The final design for this project was approved by the Los Alamos County Council in 2023. Read More

Our neighbor to the North, Colorado, got absolutely hammered with snow last week. Some communities received 60 inches of snow and two feet and more were common throughout the Central Rocky Mountains.

It’s been a good year for snow in Colorado and New Mexico. This will likely result in a strong spring runoff with heavy currents and murky water. Fishing these swollen rivers and streets can be challenging. A good tactic is to fish the edges of the current.
