SANTA FE — New Mexico tourism is officially back on track and realizing record growth.

According to the New Mexico Tourism Department’s (NMTD) annual economic impact study, New Mexico welcomed a record 39 million visitors in 2021. The 2021 visitor volume generated an estimated $7.2 billion in direct spending in 2021, including a record $7 billion in visitor spending by domestic travelers.

Atomic City Transit Shuttle Service To Overlook Park For Pumpkin Glow & Fireworks Saturday Oct. 29

Atomic City Transit will provide free shuttle service to the Los Alamos Pumpkin Glow & Fireworks event to be held at Overlook Park in White Rock Saturday, Oct 29.

Shuttle service will begin at 3 p.m. from Sullivan Field in Los Alamos and the White Rock Visitor Center. Continuous shuttle service will be provided throughout the event with the last bus leaving Overlook Park at 9:30 p.m.

With the opening of Canyon Road to through traffic, Los Alamos County’s Atomic City Transit announces Route 3 service has resumed.

Canyon Road Reopens To Traffic 3 PM Today!

COUNTY News: 

Los Alamos County Public Works Department has announced that TLC Plumbing and Utility has reached substantial completion on the Canyon Road Reconstruction Project and the roadway and sidewalks will reopen 3 p.m. today, Oct. 24 to traffic.

New roadway striping begins Tuesday, Oct. 25, and is anticipated to be completed Thursday, Oct. 27. Motorists are asked to use caution around the striping crews. To avoid incurring any paint damage to your vehicle, do not attempt to pass the striping truck.

To keep construction crews and the public safe during the demolition of the Hilltop House Hotel, a lane closure, sidewalk closure and detour will be implemented near the roundabout 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 on N.M. 502 and Trinity Drive.

Motorists traveling westbound on N.M. 502 will follow a short detour on Central Avenue and use Knecht Street or 15th Street to access Trinity Drive.
