Atomic City Transit Extending Service To Summer Concerts Beginning Friday

COUNTY News:

The community is invited to ride Atomic City Transit to the Los Alamos Summer Concerts at Ashley Pond all summer.

The 2026 summer concert bus schedule extends service on three fixed routes to allow concert goers to leave their car at home and avoid parking hassles or a long walk to Ashley Pond.

The special bus service hours begin on Friday, May 22, and run through Aug. 28.

Baggage Claim Kicks Off Co-op Summer Showcase Series

Local rock band Baggage Claim kicked off the inaugural Co-op Summer Showcase at 6 p.m. Friday, May 15. The concert was held at Los Alamos Co-op Park, adjacent to Los Alamos Schools Credit Union at 1010 Central Ave. This free concert was the first in the new series, which offers music from local musicians at this outside venue as opening acts for the main Friday night summer concert series. The Department stocked a total of 44,581 rainbow trout weighing 16,359 pounds. Most of the stocking will now be in Northern New Mexico.

It has been one of the weakest spring runoffs in memory this year. The snowpack is gone and the weather has been unseasonably warm and dry. This is reflected in streamflow measurements. Normally, the Rio Grande would be swollen with spring runoff from the melting snow. Streamflows above 1,000 cubic-feet-per-second would be common.

Laboratory Retiree Group Held Annual Meeting At BESC

The LRG is a non-profit organization that seeks to maintain communications with and to serve the needs and interests of all retirees from LANL. All Los Alamos National Laboratory retirees (and potential retirees) are invited to drop in at the group’s meetings, between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, typically held at Muy Salsas at 1315 Trinity Drive.
