FBI: Shiprock Man Sentenced To 44 months In Prison For Federal Firearms Offense

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Kendale Johnson was sentenced to 44 months in prison.

Johnson, 34, of Shiprock, New Mexico, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition March 2, 2023.

ALBUQUERQUE – Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced today that John Benjamin Thornton was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Thornton, 42, of Las Cruces, pleaded guilty on Dec. 3, 2021, to a nine-count superseding indictment charging him with cyberstalking and making threats in interstate commerce.

Update: The Truck Route has re-opened to traffic.

LAPD Traffic Alert:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reports black ice and multiple accidents near Mile Marker 8  on the Truck Route.

The truck route is down to one lane westbound.

SANTA FE — In December 2023 the New Mexico State Police (NMSP)  began a series of proactive operations in the Santa Fe area geared toward apprehending wanted violent felons and suppressing violent crime in the area.

In the first week of the operation, the NMSP made five arrests, with four of them being wanted felony offenders.

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced Nov. 15 that Steven Williams pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

Williams, 29, of Dulce and an enrolled member of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma, will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled.
