Compass Rose Painting Completed On Runway At Los Alamos County Airport

Members of the Rio Grande Norte Chapter of the 99’s organization have completed their project of painting a compass rose on the runway of the Los Alamos County Airport. They explained that the compass is used by pilots to calibrate their aircrafts. This particular compass is 42 feet in diameter. The 99’s is an international organization of women aviators. Traffic Delays Expected On East Jemez Road

COUNTY News: 

 

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) advise motorists to plan for traffic delays next Thursday through Friday on East Jemez Road.

 

DPU will trench and install an electric duct bank across six lanes of traffic west of the Eco Station at 3701 E. Jemez. Two-way traffic will be maintained and DPU will phase the construction over the two-day period to minimize the amount of disruption.

County: Trinity Drive Lane Closures Oct. 2-6

COUNTY News:

As part of 20th Street Extension Project, construction crews will be connecting new water and gas lines to existing underground utilities on Trinity Drive at the intersection of 20th Street.

This work requires temporary lane and sidewalk closures on Trinity Drive near 20th Street, scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

  • Monday, Oct. 2 through Friday, Oct. 6, eastbound right lane.

PEEC: Los Luceros Birding Trip Oct. 7

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center is offering a special opportunity Saturday, Oct. 7 to go birding at New Mexico Historic Site Los Luceros.

The trip will be led by expert birder Joe Fitzgibbon, and is $10 per person for PEEC members and $12 per person for all others. This birding trip is limited to 12 participants, and expected to fill quickly.

NCRTD Begins 170 Jicarilla Route Bus Service Oct. 2

Monday, Oct. 2, the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) will begin providing fare-free bus transit service between Dulce, Chama and Farmington in a partnership arrangement with the Jicarilla Apache Nation (JAN).
 
There will be four roundtrips between Chama and Dulce each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday, the route begins in the morning in Chama and continues on to Dulce, Bloomfield and Farmington. It returns to Dulce midday and early afternoon departs Dulce for Bloomfield and Farmington
