County: Gas Leak On Central Avenue

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities is responding to a natural gas leak detected on Central Avenue across from the Municipal Building.  

To repair the main, crews are closing the east bound lane on Central Avenue between Knecht Street and 9th Street. East bound traffic will be rerouted to Trinity Drive at Knecht Street.  

Crews on scene indicate that repairs will continue into the evening and that the road will be open before Thursday morning.  Read More

State Police Checkpoints And Saturation Patrols Launch Across New Mexico Throughout September

SANTA FE – State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and registration, insurance and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of September 2017.

Trinity Drive Lane Closures During Next Two Weeks

COUNTY News:

As part of 20th Street Extension Project, construction crews will be locating existing underground utilities on Trinity Drive at the intersection of 20th Street followed by placement of new underground conduit via subsurface boring. 

This work requires temporary lane and sidewalk closures on Trinity Drive near 20th Street scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

  • Aug. 28 and 29, westbound right lane;
  • Aug. 30 and 31, eastbound right lane;
  • Sept. 5 and 6, westbound right lane; and
  • Sept. 7 and 8, eastbound right lane.

Concrete Gutter Work Begins On Longview Drive Across Entrances To White Rock Municipal Complex Thursday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County crews will begin placement of a concrete valley gutter across the entrances to the White Rock Municipal Complex Thursday, Aug. 24 to improve storm water drainage.  

Use of the parking lots will be interrupted, however, access and parking to at least one parking lot will be maintained as work progresses. Work is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, Aug. 30, weather permitting.

SANTA FE – Gov. Susana Martinez announced powerful TV ads – called “Just a Matter of Time” – to fight drunk and distracted driving.

SANTA FE  The Gilman Tunnels on Forest Road (FR) 376 have reopened on the Jemez Ranger District. 
 
Closed since mid-June, the Gilman Tunnel corridor has undergone essential safety measures following several near misses with large boulders falling into the roadway. Road crews have stabilized the cliff walls within the box canyon and removed sections of loose rock along a portion of FR 376 between mile markers 0.1 and 5.5.
