Emergency Road Closure Underway On 37th Street

COUNTY News:

Water crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) closed a section of 37th Street to through traffic this morning for an emergency repair to a leaking water line.

The closure affects the stretch between Villa Street and Urban Street. (For clarity, 37th Street becomes 35th Street just before Urban Street.)

Drivers in the area should expect the closure to last until 4 p.m. today. Read More

Phil Robinson will speak about New Mexico’s highest peaks at the March 26 meeting of the Los Alamos Mountaineers. The meeting will be in person with a hybrid adjunct.

County: Gas Line Repair In White Rock On March 26

Weather permitting, the repair of a gas line in White Rock is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26. The work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and should last no later than 4 p.m.

A crew with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will be digging up a gas main to fix the gas service line to 37 Grand Canyon Dr., between Canyon Vista Street and Mesa Verde Street.

46th Street To Be Closed For Several Hours March 26

CM ArborCare has announced that it is scheduled to close 46th Street between 1331 46th and 1322 46th, 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The road will be completely closed for about three hours to allow equipment access for the removal of a large tree.

Vehicle and pedestrian access will be blocked. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic can be detoured to Sandia Drive and 47th Street.

Transportation Board Meeting Update For March 7, 2024

At our last Transportation Board meeting, March, 7, 2024, we started with a presentation and public comment on the Bathtub Row Reconstruction Project. This project will begin at Central and curve around Bathtub Row and Juniper Street to 15th Street, improving vehicle, pedestrian, ADA, and utilities conditions. Additional options for improvements to adjacent areas will be provided to Council for consideration.

County Crews To Repair Asphalt Along Central Between 15th & Oppenheimer Friday

The Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Department will be repairing sections of asphalt along Central Avenue between 15th Street and Oppenheimer Drive.

Work will run 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday March 22, with a moving flag operation in place. The project will start at 15th and head westbound to Oppenheimer, then return eastbound to 15th.

Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will not be interrupted.

Traffic is urged to slow down in the area and watch out for cyclists, pedestrians, crews and equipment.
