In Los Alamos County and the nearby region, Rocky Mountain Elk are often active near or on the roadways from dusk until the morning hours. In the winter months, they are often seen at lower elevations, and closer to town.

Naming Contest Underway For New Zamboni At Ice Rink

The Los Alamos County Ice Rink welcomed its new Zamboni last week and has plans to debut it on the ice this upcoming week.

The Recreation Division is holding a contest to name the new Zamboni for community members and those residing in surrounding areas alike to partake in.

Initial submissions will be accepted until the end of May, followed by a public vote of favorite names from the submissions during the summer months.

Scam Alert: Los Alamos Community Services Department Nor Golf Course Working With Company On Scorecard App

It has come to the attention of the Los Alamos Community Services Department (CSD) and Golf Course staff that false information has been circulating regarding CSD and the Golf Course working with an unnamed company to create a scorecard app to replace the current paper ones.

The Los Alamos Golf Course and CSD are not working with any company to digitize scorecards.

The annual Eagle Nest Lake Fishing Contest will be held Saturday, Jan. 27 at Eagle Nest Lake State Park.
