2024 Los Alamos County Fair & Rodeo – Roping The Dream

Join Los Alamos County and other partnering organizations Aug. 2-4 for exhibits, the Friday Night Summer Concert, parade, a fair at Ashley Pond Park, the Rodeo at Brewer Arena, and much more!

The County Fair exhibits, organized by the NMSU Co-operative Extension office will kick off the weekend from 3-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2 at the Mesa Public Library. The Family YMCA’s Annual Golf Classic raises funds to support youth programs and scholarships.  

The Y’s 15th Golf Classic will be held Friday, Aug. 9 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start/scramble at the Los Alamos Golf Course.

There has been extensive flooding in the Las Vegas area, especially along the Gallinas River. It is best to avoid this area as crews clean up after the floods. 

Heavy rainfall three weeks ago raised streamflows to higher than normal. This past two weeks have been a little drier and streamflows fell back to near and below normal. More rain fell so streamflows may rise again. It is always a good idea to check conditions at the location you are headed to. Registration Is Now Open For 2024 Los Alamos Knights Of Columbus Golf Tournament

 

Knights of Columbus News:

The 2024 Los Alamos Knights of Columbus golf tournament will be held at Towa Golf Course on Aug. 10.

This is a charity tournament that supports scholarships for high school seniors in Northern New Mexico.

Last year’s tournament recognized Deacon Don Lucero and his many contributions to the Community of Los Alamos, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and our Nation for his many years of service with the Department of Energy.

The annual “Tee it Up for the Future” tournament raised more than $10,000 last year thanks to loyal sponsors and players.

County Parks And Open Space Division Invites Community To Second Listening Session For BMX Track Project Via Zoom July 31

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division is still seeking feedback from the community as the planning process continues for the proposed BMX park on North Mesa.

The upcoming Listening Session, hosted by Action Sports Design will collect community input to assist Parks in understanding key community issues, priorities and goals related to the project.

This meeting will be similar to the in-person meeting held June 20, 2024.

The Listening Session will be held via Zoom 6-7:30 p.m., July 31, 2024.
